Apparently I'm an idiot. I wrote the wrong title and now I cannot change it. Sheesh. My hand is not a Columbine. Teaches me for posting on no coffee so early in the morning.

Yes ma'am! I was using one of two lenses, I don't remember which. Either it was my f/2.5 Access 35-70mm with "Macro" or my f/3.8 Vivitar Close Focusing 75-205mm. Both would have gotten this shot but the Vivitar is super heavy. That makes me think I must have used the Access. I really need to keep a log of my shots and which of my many lenses I used.

I'm impressed that you accomplished this with one hand. I need a tripod, and remote cable release these days, or my pictures generally look like I've taken them in a Earthquake. There is jus too much hand that has very little detail, and detracts from your image. Try cropping just below the knuckles. It makes the Dragonfly that much larger, and the image seems more balanced even though the DF is now almost dead center. But it works.

Thats pretty cool. Obviously he was beggining for a portrait to show his damsel friend ;)

Your originals should have the Exif data in them.. showing what length it was shot at.. unless your older lenses don't communicate that data...

@Joel_W - Yeah, I had the lens all the way open for the amount of light that was available, high ISO to promote a faster shutter-speed otherwise my photo would have looked like it was taken in an earthquake (I have kinetic tremor to boot). Thank you for the cropping idea.

@mjhoward - Right? And he didn't pay me the bugger!

@cgipson1 - I only have one of them there new-fangled lenses that transmit data to the camera (the kit lens that came with the camera). As my sig declares, I shoot old glass. By old, I mean average age of my lenses are probably twenty or more years old. The adapters I have to fit them on the 1000D (XS) don't even have confirmation chips. I decided to purchase the cheaper ones as I don't need the camera telling me if something is in focus or not as I do have my own two eyes.
