i was wondering how to get these dark rich style photos and the technique used to get them. i figure most of it is done in post but was wondering so i could play with it a little.

Could you post a link to an example of the type of image you're seeking to recreate? If we're thinking of the same thing, typically it's done with very careful lighting.

I'm not much good at this, but I think I see an over exposed photo of a polar bear on an iceberg in a snow storm
