what would you guys recommend to dump your pictures on when on a trip and laptops aren't an option

I found this Photo Safe II 250GB Stand-Alone Data Storage Unit
it's pretty cheap but
1. is it reliable
2. is there anything cheaper/better for the same price

Never thought about it... good question.

I will have to look that up one day.

i use a 300GB WDpassport USB 2.0 external HD. works good for me. Pick one up for about 80 bucks new 20 used. but you cant use a laptop. so with that said .... good question!

I guess if you bought a few 16gb or 32gb SD Cards fro your camera then you could just use those.

SD Cards are cheap, and small.... You can find 4GB cards for under $20, keep extras in your camera bag.

Photo safe weighs in at $140. 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II weighs in at $14.95, so that same money could buy 10 cards giving you 20gb of memory. I get 122 RAW images on a 2 gb card so x 10 would be 1220. Do you need more storage than that? You could probably get 3 x that or more in jpg.

I have two 8gb cards that are MORE than enough for me.

i did some math...
the t2i (my camera) takes 24.5mb per raw image which isn't very many pictures on a small device (about 66 in a 16gb card)

I think you misplaced a decimal.

I have 2 8gb cards for my 50D and I get 300+ raws on each

16Gb = 17,179,869,184 bytes
24.5Mb = 25,690,112 bytes

16Gb / 24.5 Mb = 668 pictures on a 16gb card
