DX Lens, Will it work?

Will a Nikkor 18 - 55mm AF-S DX Lens work on a Nikon D70? (I do not think the D70 is a DX format camera?)

Any D-SLR made by Nikon before the release of the D3 and D700 were all APSC (DX) sized sensors. The D70 was never marketed as a DX camera when it was released because Nikon (or any other company for that mater) did not have a full frame (FX) sensor camera available.

ALL of the 2-digit Nikons are DX format, and as stated above, the DX term wasn't used early on because there was no FX to contrast it with.

Yup, it will mount on any Nikon DSLR..even full frame ones except that it will be crop mode but it would work. You could even mount it on a old Nikon F2AS in manual mode as far as I know. When it comes to lens compatibility..Nikon has the best. You can use lenses from 1959 on a 2015 DSLR. Come on, that's just awesome.
