Hmm...from my experience there is not a lot of money to be made in Stock Photography unless your really great at it, can shoot some unique photographs and fill a niche. But I'm sure there has got to be some photographers on here who specialize in it who can give you some better advice then I.

Unless you have a thousand + good images on, none of them are any good

It's not easy to even get stock photography companies to accept your shots, let alone sell them. There are strict rules and conditions about size, composition and technical ability. Take a look around some of the sites and ask yourself honestly if your shots are equally as good. If they are just as good, you need to do better!

it is individual, i earn the most from istock.com, but the highest provisions are in dollarphotostock.com

There are 2 kinds of stock photography use licensing and each type of use licensing pretty much defines 2 kinds of stock photography businesses - microstock (RF licensing) and stock (RM licensing):

• Royalty-Free (RF)
• Rights-Managed (RM)

Here is a link to some typical RF use license terms and conditions - Stock Photography: Search Royalty Free Images & Photos | iStock RF pays pennies per use license sold. As you can see from the istockphoto standard use license tems, you would be paid pennies even if your photo was used 499,999 times. You would be paid a few more pennies if the buyer opted for an Extended license so they could use your photo more than 499,999 times.
It is worth noting istockphoto's 'License Restrictions' on the page I linked too.

RM works differently in that the use license is custom written for the intended use. Getty Images - License information RM pays better than RF.
