editing for facebook

Normally when I edit I just edit for what I feel gives the photo the best look (as far as my skill level is concerned) but I am doing some photos for someone who will be posting them on facebook and possibly there local newspaper and was wondering what diffrence should i consider when editing specifically for these two formats.

I'd like to hear about this also, because I've experienced perfect edits getting butchered by Facebook. Anyone had any experience defeating the big-blue-contrast-killer?

When I export to FB from LR I export at 960px on the longest edge, sRGB, and "Sharpen for Screen: High."

Seems to render pretty good images even up on FB.

If it's on facebook, in PS, resize to 720 pixels on the long end, save as Jpeg (7-8 depending on image complexity). Compresses it enough to where you don't loose too much.

For a newspaper...hell shooting on emultion coated newspaper would be just fine lol

For Facebook, I just downsize in order to keep the compression down.

The resolution of newspaper photos is usually not too terribly high, so you can pretty much crop to your hearts content with most modern cameras and you won't really have to worry about a degradation in quality.
