Please don't suggest selective color.... that is a great way to ruin any image. There are very few images it improves... and this would not be one of them.

So, had it been shot with a white or gray background to begin with, it would be just as horrible, I guess, since the results would be the same.

I'll suggest whatever I want because its my opinion. OP asked for options I listed them.
