Editing Software & Simple Lens Question - Complete Beginner

Hi Joe, thank you for your detailed response.
Pictures taken in RAW format, edited in ViewNX2 and exported to Jpeg currently.

Saving and processing raw files gives you best end result, so if you've started that way by all means continue. That strengthens the argument for choosing LR since the ideal way to work with raw files is to use a feature rich parametric editor. Capture One or ACDSee would be the non-lease options that are competitive.

Joe

Edit: P.S. There's one other point worth consideration. Using a parametric editor to process raw files is recognized now as the preferred way to work, BUT it is worth noting that whatever software you do select you'll be committing to. Your processing work will not be transferable from one software product to another. So if you eventually process say 5000 images in LR you'll be married to LR. Move those 5000 images to another software app is possible but the processing work doesn't move with them.

It would seem that LR has plenty of supporters despite the change to a leasing format. I'm happy to follow the crowd as people are obviously happy with it.

Benhasajeep, thank you for the advice.
