Eye piece fell off?

So last night I went in the woods and.......Not the point lol

I came home and noticed the rubber piece around the eye piece was gone and so was the little glass window?

Like what the poopy!


I guess I need to find a new one, I keep seeing aftermarket ones, what do you guys recommend?

You can get it for round (d4, d800, d700 etc) or square (d7000, d600 etc) eyepieces

I love it too
The downside is that the lower part of it obstruct the LCD screen a little.
So if you use the LCD screen alot for things it could be a little annoying.

But it easily rotates around and is very solid on the camera. It doesn't just pull off like the nikon little doohickie. I used to pull mine off all the time pulling the camera out of the camera bag.

Call me 'inexperienced' when it comes to eye pieces, but whats the advantage to a square vs round and normal vs a hood?

The d3x00, d5x00, d7x00 and d6x0 camera have a square eyepiece that you stick your eye up to

The d7x0, d8x0, d4x, d3s d2s etc have a round eyepiece

The one thing I show actually pulls your face AWAY from the camera, and offers a round view point. They also make a version that is eyeglass friendly.

The regular eyepiece cover your face is right up to the camera. My nose /cheek constantly touch the LCD. With the aftermarket one my face is away from the camera - for me much more comfortable too. And it rotates and doesn't pull off.

Thats for sure! Its hard when your all camo'd out in the woods sweating though and your trying not to breathe too loud or move to much so then your face is just smashed up against your camera trying to get comfortable haha.

Try calling nikon support
It's odd that the glass cover would break off
It looks like there's a small edge still there

You need a new eyepiece! It keeps junk out of the pentaprism and inside the camera. AstronNikon is talking about eyecups: you lost the eyepiece...meaning the glass lens AND the round protection bumper.

Get a replacement! Or get the magnifying one if you want to. Nikon sells both. It threads in, obviously, and it has ever-so-slowly been loosening because you've not been making sure its tightly screwed in. Order the replacement eyepiece immediately.

It's a DK-17. The DK-17M is the magnifying one.

It looks like there are threads where something should screw on. I'm guessing the glass piece screws on and the rubber piece clips onto that.
