Fair entry decision

The category is "Machines". For no particular reason other than because I decided to, I went for a "something out of the movie "Metropolis"" look.

1. Did I succeed; and

2. which one or neither?

They're both part of the same unit, a steam-powered logging "donkey" engine; the not seeing was part of plan, trying to add some mystery or unknown quantity.

If the goal was Machines, my vote is definately for #2.

Gives it that steel age look of new found automation.

I think that a highpass filter on overlay mode would help improve the gritty detail.

My gut reaction is that #1 would be closer to the feel of "Metropolis" (which my vague memories have me thinking was more of a 'smooth' metal look), but I like #2 better.
