These shots were taken from Kodungallore, Thrissur district, Kerala, India; where i was born. This is from the premises of the famous temple, there. The occasion was the annual festival held there. During this celebration herds of devotees migrate to there from various places of the state and at the culmination of events they transform to a frenzied state which only they can understand.... Photography is very difficult because you are in the crowd and pushed in all directions; the whole air is filled with dust.....

Your shots are rich with color and culture. Wonderful!

Nicely captured. #2 is a standout for me. I would try cropping some off the right edge of the frame to see if this gives him a less centered position.

I really the contrast of colors in these pictures. The cultural aspects of the pictures adds another dimension of interest. Nice photos.

Thanks for sharing!! I also like #2! Keep shooting!!!

Next set: In Hindu tradition there are three types of worships: Saattvik, Raajasic and Thaamasic. All this worships are based on Dualism, the worshiper and the worshipped. The first is the most refined one where the materials of worship are of subtle nature like flowers, fruits, ghee, water, etc. In the next, called Rajasic the way of worship involves sacrifices of birds, animals etc and more of Earthy character. The third is the of the lowest category where comes black magic, sorcery etc. This festival has more of Rajasic stature....

PS: I retained motion blur in some whenever i felt it adds to the mood

To show other cultures is a gift. Thank you. I love the images.

Third Set: This festival is also characterized by a very weird kind of observation; on this day devotees sing so many erotic songs to propitiate goddess; tradition has it that Goddess being a virgin, enjoys hearing them :grumpy: ; the psycology behind this is that man creates God in his semblance and imposes his own likes and dislikes on God. Any how now this has been legally banned thanks to the struggles of many revolutionary groups; that is the legal part; but you can still hear them.... and one can see young people moving around such singer groups, recording such songs to enjoy later;

Thanks for giving a little taste of your country. I have very little knowledge about India. There is no better ways to learn a tiny bit about a different culture trough awesome and colorful pictures! Thanks a lot for sharing Frequency!!:D
