Portrait preferences...that's easy..it comes down to a choice of three lenses depending on the age and gender of the subject:

50 1.2 AI-S Nikkor
85 1.4 AF-D Nikkor
Zeiss 100mm Makro

I've been taking a lot of shots lately of flowers and bugs, and since I'm too cheap to get a real macro lens (Listening, Santa?), I'm getting surprising mileage out of my 55-250. Once I got my 70-300, I considered selling the 55-250. Glad I didn't.

As of right now my favorite portrait lens is my 50mm f/1.4. Id like to be using either a 85mm f/1.4 or the 70-200mm f/2.8.

17-40mm for full frame landscapes

i had a 12-24 for a nikon crop sensor that i loved

i wouldnt mind a tilt shift for architecture

if i did portraits i wouldn t mind an 85 f/1.2 or a 135 f/2

if i shot sports id like a 300 f/2.8

Lenses I have and use:

For my large landscapes, I really like my Canon 10-22. The perspective of image is my favorite use of this lens.
I use my 24-70L for landcape detail shots and for architectural photos. Sometimes I even impress myself with the results.

I have been shooting with my 50 f/1.4, but I have not worked out all of the nuances with this lens yet. My feet need to learn the 50mm dance...
I did shoot my wife's class with the 50mm, and the 580 flash. I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Those are the only portrait/people photos I have really taken. The kids were very good for me in the still and then action shots.


I have been shooting landscapes and architectural photos with my 16-35L, but I need more practice with this lens/7D combo.

I also have the 70-300mm f/3.5. I used to like this lens on my T1i, I like it better on the 7D, but I see it's flaws more....so I shoot with it less. I want a better long lens, but that will have to wait. I am in the market for the 5DMii, which I hope to have real soon.



Lenses in the future...

TS-E 45. I am looking forward to this lens, mostly for architeture and landscape. Maybe I can even become creative with it as others have, only time will tell.

70-200L II. I am very interested in this lens to take over how I used to shoot with my 70-300. I plan on purchasing a 1.4 extender with it.
