This month I have spent some time photographing nursing mothers as part of a public breastfeeding awareness project. So without further ado #feedyourbabies #thisisnormal #worldbreastfeedingweek

I love this project. Not to get all political or preachy but its time to normalize breastfeeding in public. Nursing is what they were made for.

Wow two at once, that is some advanced level skills right there.

As for the photos, well I don't like that you can only see kid's faces or no faces all all. I don't know if you had specific requirements but I think it loses the emotion connection.

I have some with faces. The above are just my favorites, I like focusing on the details. I guess I shoot it from a nursing mothers perspective...what I would want to remember, looking down.

/\ I'm sorry pixmed, but I find that video very disrespectful (and from a mod no less). This is an issue I am very passionate about and I mean...what is that? Some pervy video of a puppy suckling a woman's breast? I started this thread to share my work that I am passionate about. Not for breastfeeding mothers to be mocked.

don't get me wrong. The powers of human milk are amazing. But I mean...there is such a thing as pumping...even by hand.

Yeah you know...a breast pump...pouring the milk into a bowl for an animal to drink out of. Or a bottle. I wonder how many people would complain if they saw a woman inside walmart breastfeeding a puppy....hmmmmm. Whatever the video can stay. I'm not one to control what other's type. Freedom of speech.

As I mentioned before in a post that got deleted. This project is about normalizing breastfeeding. Making new mothers comfortable in feeding their children, however, whenever, and where ever necessary. To let them know that feeding their babies is normal and that our society is accepting of them doing so anywhere need be.

I think we need to see some "surroundings" in these images. They're all very tightly cropped and while I understand your "Mother's point of view" concept, I'm not sure that these pass on the message as well as they could. When I look at them, they could just as easily be in the Mother's living room with the blinds pulled down as in a shopping mall.

Have you considered doing a series of triptychs? One from the mother's POV, one from the child's and one showing them both in their surroundings? Just a thought...

for the record, i really have no issues at all with public breast feeding.
ive personally never understood the demonizing of the human body and sexuality here in America.
