I took a group of shots of this fence, and settled on this one (the first!) as the best of the bunch. It's in colour!

Nice, good sense of mystery and intrigue. I like the intense rippled pattern of the water, it adds a lot to the shot.
 
Thanks for the comments guys. It was the contrast of the solid fence and the less substantial water that drew me into this shot. I guess the farmer must have a problem with his stock straying if he needs to extend his fence right out into the lake!

While you don't claim your photo to be art (as you are saying in your blog), I see art in it, no doubt. To be seeing this difference of solid fence and much lighter, less substantial water ("Water: forgive me, of course you have substance, too!") is one thing, to be framing it like this and making use of the given light like this is another. Together they are just good and have produced quite an artistic photo (so I think, but that may be because I am your fan! ;)).

You are right: conversion to black and white does seem pointless :wink: !
