#4 & #5 are cropped too tight cutting off part of the head. #1 & #2 could be cropped a little less on the sides but still nice though depending on what they would be used for but #6 is my favorite one of the bunch. Good job

I think your shots are great and I would not worry about the crop. I don't think there are "rules" regarding cropping. We must remember technique but what about developing style???? A very well known photographer Peter Hurley always crops his headshots - that's his style. It's not right or wrong.

I really like them. #1 is beautiful but that flash a little harsh on her face. #6 is my fave, but it just needs a slight straightening.

I agree w prior posts. But on #3, the water color and glare left pulls my eye off the subject. :meh:

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you didn't just get your first camera for Christmas.

#1 - Love the shot but there is some unfocused background that makes her look like she has "Bunny Ears" coming of the top of her head. It's out of focus enough not to be a real issue but it's one of those things that once it has been seen can't be unseen.

#2 - A bit cramped. Needs some more space around him.

#3 - The horizon is leaning just slightly.

#4 and #5 - Similar in that they were cropped too tightly. Lost the tops of the heads (some people like that look but I don't) and they need some space around them. I'm not sure I like the orientation either. Would they look better in portrait orientation?

#5 - Just a little bit shallow on the DOF since his ears aren't in sharp focus. Might have been what you intended to do though.

Overall very well done. Excellent lighting, spot-on focus right on the eyes, slight glint in the eyes, simple uncluttered backgrounds, no hair hanging in faces, no odd shadows. Excellent job.

Nice clicks, one thing that did pop in my head was better use of colours in your pictures. So matching similar clothing colours or use of complete opposite colours. Just a thought.

I gotta say I like um too! I would think in number 2, you could use a little fill light on the right side of the image and a few images are cropped where ur cutting off the forehead. I'm just being nitpicky nice set ya got here!

Thank you for being so thorough! I actually straightened #3 and thought it was fine until I read your post... now all I see is that it's still slightly crooked! Lol. On #5, yeah, I used the wide aperture so that the eyes were the main focus. The baby has amazing eyes, and I wanted to show them off!

Fill light on #2? Now that you mention it, I see where it would've helped. I guess I'll need to start schlepping more than one light with us!

Again, thanks so much for the feedback. Is there another place on this forum that allows for CC for those of us who aren't just starting out? I couldn't find anything like that here.
