First couples shoot! C&C

I definitely know very little about what I am doing, I just know I love it and I honestly can't wait until I can keep up knowledge wise with yall!
;)
Entheusiasm and interest are the two most important qualities. Keep shooting, keep posting, and, when you get critique that you disagree with, or don't feel is accurate, just ignore it and repeat the above!

Pretty average amateur work. The lighting, framing, and composition in all them is poorly done.

KmH, are you bored or do you have some kind of grudge against beginners? I'll admit you have a lot of knowledge and have even helped me in the past, but lately you have been approaching most beginners with a very poor attitude. I think you could be a great asset to anyone looking to learn, but that's if you drop the negative attitude. It's like you get off on being a jerk, or you're so utterly bitter or angry about beginners. You know, you do have an option to not visit this actual section of the site if it irritates you that much.

Also I don't care who is mad at me for speaking up to KmH. Just because someone is smart or has knowledge doesn't mean you all have to bow down and kiss their angry mean butt.

I noticed more and more "YOU SUCK ATTITUDE" from this site rather than true constructive criticism .. I been visiting photography-on-the.net/forum and always getting positive and true feedback...and very very minimal " I am better than you and you amount to nothing" attitude.

In that case, care to say anything constructive? Such as how I can make them NOT poor.
Were you perceptive at all, you would be searching the internet for information on photographic lighting, posing people, and proprer visual image framing.

You posted way to many photos for any more specific C&C than I gave you.

Step away from the campy, edit de jour Photoshop work, and learn how to do photography.

I thought you were telling me my attitude sucks lol. I thought, well maybe it does lately, I don't know. I don't think the whole forum here is this way at all. So not to take the thread off topic, I think that only very few people here can be very rude and just because they know what they are talking about it doesn't justify it but who knows, someone might come along and tell my hippy self to hug a tree again!

To the OP, I know you will do well because you want to. Good luck & next time you post a C&C thread I will give actual C&C and not attack the other forum members.

I really like your pictures. I cant very well offer some C&C because I am a beginner too, but I would like to say that I really like your pictures. I think they are adorable! And I know I am new here, and im not looking to me mean or anything, but KmH, this is a beginners forum, so instead of just critisizing and not saying anything constructive, you could maybe add why you thing the images were not good and what could make them better. I know im new, I dont really know anyone on here, but I dont really see what you have been saying as C&C, its just critisizing.

I can't offer much help, but I really love the concepts of some of these.

To the OP, can you post one of the originals before photoshop, or at least after you did your color corrections and cropping but before you added the other effects?

I am a beginner as well only been at photography since about march and I finally received my first DSLR in June. Some one referred the book "Understanding Exposure" on amazon and that taught me a lot. More than my photography instructor has since January. It was well worth the 15-20 dollars that it cost me.

I realize now I posted too many photos, it has been addressed.

As for the lighting, you are right, I don't know much about it, and really have no other tools other than my lens, so I try to work with the natural lighting I have. [not saying I am working with it right, but I am trying]
The poses, well, I understand that may be your personal opinion, and true, maybe some of the poses are wrong, but when it comes down to it... the couple I shot LOVED them, and not only that, we had a blast doing this shoot. I stalk other photography blogs and take what I can from them, most of them, I take the poses.
If your client loves the poses, and the pictures, I can't sit here and agree that mine all just "suck".
Instead, seeing what I can do to enhance them would be much appreciated.

As for the photos, I can definitely post the unedited ones.
YES, I did use photoshop for all of them.
Let me post 1 or 2 that are untouched ;)

People always love pictures of themselves, their children or something close to them. I'm not saying your pictures suck but it was something I've heard here a lot. And it's true. People always love the pictures done of their children. Most people can't tell if the picture is slightly under/over exposed or if the white balance is off.

It's probably been asked but do you shoot in raw? Do you do a *clean edit on all your pictures - fixing white balance, exposure issues, cropping?

We refer to this in general terms as "mommy goggles". You can present someone with a pic that's oof, underexposed and poorly composed, and as long as it's a pic of something they have a strong emotional attachment to, they'll think it's brilliant. Your job as the photographer is to know better. Your job is to present them with a pic that's technically and compositionaly well crafted.

The first one looks better without the PP! I think you have a good eye, just don't fall for any processing gimmicks :)
