Face like from Mars.
What lens did you use for taking this on your Chamonix ?
What is the enlargement factor ?
Extremely shallow dof, maybe 1 cm. How did you achieve that ?

Sorry was not all the clear in the techical info.
The lens I used on the Chamonix is the Jupiter-9 85mm f/2.
Have done a litte homemade lensboard with a m39 mount.
These work often very well for macro.
I don't know the exact enlargement factor but this glass head is quite small.
It is shot wide open but I don't remember exacly the bellow factor but I think it was around f/8.

The dof on a 4x5" negative usually gets very short even when you stop down the lens.

In macro mode for sure, in every camera, but Chamonix has movement to counter this to same extend.
Bengt, what is the size of the projection circle from Jupiter lens ? :) Cause you said, that this is a "test of enlarging a paper negative" I asked about the ratio of that enlargement, but maybe you only meant macro, an image larger then subject.

I thought you ment macro ratio, but the print is a 24x30cm (9.5x12").

OK. So you insert a paper negative in the enlarger, right ? What size is the negative ? From Jupiter you could not get full 4x5 coverage. Or could you ?

Yes and it's a full 4x5" negative.
The lens works the same way as your movie projektor.
And you will get a bigger sized image the futher away you are from the screen.
So a lens ment for a smaller film can cover a mush bigger one but only in macro.

That figures and explains such a shallow dof.
