Hey suryad ...I came to look and my first impression was to crop the second shot and you'd have a beaut.
I just think you haven't cropped enough.
Bring in the right side to just before the first visible post and you're there IMO. :thumbup:
good work - the pink, grey, blue and green are nice together and the bird is really sharp and well exposed.

Look out for cheap zoom lenses. For Nikon you can get the 70-300 mm for a student-compatible price, dunno about Canon.

75-300 F4-5.6 III (58mm) WITH CAPS 35MM SLR AUTO FOCUS ZOOM TELEPHOTO LENS for $119.00.

I just bought 3 Nikon lenses from these guy's, and you can't even tell they are used.

Ohh I like the cropped one better too.

That second one is a lot better than any of the bird photos I have so far managed to achieve. With the second crop as suggested by JonK, you'll have an absolute winner here!
My attempts at capturing birds don't look even half as good - despite the 200mm I may use (hoping they focus all right, which they don't always do, which is why my sister lets me have her old zoom lens, since my 70-300mm is even more "broken" ).
