Shot of my daughter that I thought came out nice. Just getting hooked on photography, so I welcome any feedback.

Head chopped off..... framing is much too tight! Bright highlight on camera right is very distracting...

Shot vertically, this would have been much improved. You could have got all the head, more of the shoulders / body, and cut out the dead space / highlight. Lighting is a touch flat also...

This look is really popular on facebook, but that doesn't make it right!

On the one hand, the comments thus far are all pretty much right.

On the other hand, well done getting the focus where you want it, and I kinda dig it. The light on the edge of her face is kind of nice, and her expression is.. enigmatic to say the least. For me the horizontal format kind of works, with the out of focus light on one side and the kid on the other. I don't think the space on the right is "dead" at all.

This in-tight business is generally considered wrong, but I find it more appealing than most when you do it to babies. They have such enormous heads and such little faces, I don't have a problem with dumping a bunch of forehead. We all know what foreheads look like, right?

I won't say it's *good* but I will say there are elements of it that I find appealing, and interesting.

Bright highlight on camera right is somewhat distracting. Knock that back a bit and you've got a keeper.

depends on the person. I love tight crops, but it does help to keep certain limbs/appendages intact.

your photo for example, I think would look much better with both their head in the frame fully. Dont get me wrong, Its a great photo and I am not trying to dog on it, but perhaps it could be improved? Maybe not. The great thing about art is that its subjective
