First Family Portrait Session:tried something edgier C&C please

Hey Everyone. This was my first family portrait session. They called me wanting something edgier and different than traditional family portraits. Let me know what you guys think. I will have more coming, just need to finish editing them.

Pic 1 would have been better IMO if there was an old couch for them to sit on. Probably wasn't available though. Something to get them closer. I might crop some off the top of pic 2. I definitely like the composition for both.

I agree about #1, a couch would be a great addition. Great photos. #1 reminds me of the Simpsons :mrgreen:

I know you were going for something different but I really dislike the tv in the front right of #1. It just draws my eye away from them.

#2 is cool!

The TV is a bit too prominant in the 1st one but the concept is very good. #2 is excellent! I would be proud to hang that on my wall (if I was them)

Wow, shot #2 is really,really nice. I love the way the sky in the upper right is rendered. It looks great as a family portrait--lovely "feel" in it. Nice work!

Thanks everyone. The TV was there to make it look like they were watching TV and laughing. It was supposed to be kind of like they are a ghetto family that watches TV outside on train tracks, but they are still happy because they are together. Don't know if that makes sense, but we came up with it on the spot.

Yes.. you can make it darker, add ray of light coming from the TV, put color casts on their face to make it look like the TV is on. That sounds pretty extreme to me.

I don't get the obession of shooting people on railway lines,been do before and does not float my boat sorry
