Definitely a learning experience. Caught this one too quickly and cropped off the top of her head unfortunately. I need to backup a step to allow myself room to crop in during post... Thanks for looking.

#1 I actually really like, composition is nice, need to spend a tad more time in post bringing those big beautiful eyes out though I would say. Could really make those things scream at someone!!

#2 fun shot, lighting is spot on, composition is a bit messy, but then again those are the fun shots right?

#3 would be PURE GOLD if that other hand was in there! Nice capture none the less!

C&C per req:

1. Cute; great expression! I'd like to see just a hair more exposure on her hair, but other that, and the crop you've mentioned, not bad.

2. This one doesn't do a lot for me. I can't see either child clearly, and the blown object in the background is very distracting. I would consider re-doing the monochrome as it's rather mid-tone rich here.

3. Another great expression; in this case her face is about 1/2 stop under-exposed, due to the brighter sky "fooling" the meter. Consider a reflector or OCF to get a little more light under the umbrella.

Overall, not bad, but the main issue is orientation. Remember that the vertical orientation is referred to as 'portrait', and your camera works fine when you rotate it ninety degrees counter-clockwise. Good job on acheiving focus with a relatively large aperture & shallow DoF.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

#1 - the eyes say it all...LOVE IT! Make those big, brown eyes pop!

#3 - her smile is adorable! Careful of cropping limbs.

I love the first one with those eyes! And agree with the Okie Photo on bringing the eyes out in PP. Thanks for posting the info for each photo, I am still learning and it is helpful.

Thanks all for the comments. I lightened up the first and was able to bring out those eyes more with a sharpening and a touch of Dodge to lighten them up. Deliver to the clients on Monday!!

1. I don't mind the tight crop, this is my favorite of the set. Great capture
2. Too much dead space, and both subjects aren't entirely visible. Perhaps would have been better if it was shot in portrait orientation.
3. You cut that poor girl's arm off. Imagine what the other children at school are going to say about her :l But really, as it was mentioned earlier, consider using a reflector. You could add some light to her face, the lighting on it is a bit flat otherwise
