What's new

first few decent shots

Your user's manual says while in M (Manual) mode, rotate the control dial all the way to the left until the shutter speed says bulb.

it never says bulb however theres an icon of a lightbulb but thats there regardless Of the speed when im on display interface 2/3

I have an Alpha 330 and In manual mode I just turn the shutter dial all the way to left and bulb appears. And again as mentioned you just hold the button and feel free to release whenever lol

the bulbs always there, and when its on the far left when i let go it still continues, i cant find any way for it to capture as long as i hold it...
the bulb is always showing however bubl mode appears to be not working.

ive got bulb working never mind, the options to default were to cahnge aperture in manual eposure mode not shutter, Thanks ;)

You push the button to open the shutter, then push it again to close it. You do not need to hold down the button.

However, bulb is almost useless without a remote since the act of you touching the camera to begin and complete the capture will cause blur in your image.

do you think that this would work with an a390?
It works for loads of other models, and I doubt it would have differant adapters but can anyone confirm this or give me their view?
edit upon pages of googling the a390 is not able to be used with a wired remote, only wireless, shame the reviews say it has to be 3m and directly centred to the camera...

managed to get this picture of a lighter and took advice and moved the orignal and moved it to the right and used a bit of content aware on the left to make it look more "natural"
I guess.
Heres the number 1. picture but to the right

and here's the newest lighter addition

1. I love what you were going for here. I think it looks cool, but as echoed before being in the center isn't helping :)

2. This picture doesn't tell me a story; it just shows me a dead plant.. sure, its a nice picture, but a nice picture isnt always a good photo.

3. If it wasn't for your description, I would have had no idea what I was looking at. Maybe im slow tonight, but I think there needs to be more of the boat in the frame.

4. Another nice picture, but not a good photo. What is this picture trying to tell me? What should I walk away saying from this?

5. Looks great! Great concept, blown out in center but that honestly doesn't take away from the photo for me. Love it.

Hope I wasn't too harsh. Would love to see your following work. good luck!

Yeh, I've moved it to the right, posted it on this page, so it's not centered anymore :)

Yeh, it's not necessarily a story, it's just that over the space of a few months its went from colourful flowers to a dead brown plant, just experimenting there really, but i totally agree.

Thanks, yeh I think the blown out centre degrades it and id love to re-shoot it but unfortunately i did it 2 days after christmas and the lights are a Christmas tree so I can't retake it.
not harsh at all, what i was looking for! :)

added some exposure to the boat picture.
looking any better?

1 and 5 are my favorites, 2 and 3 are so-so, 4 is pointless.

1. I like this, did you use a tripod or anything?
2. not the most exciting thing i've ever seen but its not horrible.
3. one of the best, do you live near the ocean?
4. meh, not that exciting.
5. This is my favorite, what did you spend the money on? :)

1. Thanks, no I didn't have my with it at the time, had my arm propped up on an iron board for that shot I think.
3. well, live about 20 minutes from the coast and my dad lives about half an hour a way, so when i was visiting his i asked if we could go for a venture for some pictures, and we found these abandonned boats, got a nice shot of the beach and some houses too. could do with some editing like. But thers about 5 beaches 20 mintues away from me, so i have easy access. only problem is the darkness at this time of yeh.
5. thanks, I don't think ive spent all of it but some new clothing I think ;)
