First go at portraits

I've taken many pictures of my kids but these were shot today with the intent to get a portrait and try out my new camera. I'm lighting handicapped at the moment but learning. :lmao: These were taken with overcast skies.

Overcast skies are your friend and I don't see any issues with your lighting here! Love the 2nd and 3rd frames.Her eyes are lovely and I love the expressions that she has. Very nicely done, I look forward to seeing more of your work!

She sure is a cutie! Love the 3rd one especially. You've already learned that overcast skies will keep the harsh shadows off of faces, so it's always a good day to shoot informal portraits like these. :thumbup:

Thanks so much Alison and Terri!

I'm not as thrilled with the first shot. She moves so much that the focus ended up on the tree rather than her. So she's a bit blurred. And since it was taken under a small tree, there are no catch lights in her eyes. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it.
