First Maternity Shoot - C&C Please

Honestly? I think they are mostly a disaster.

1. This shot is so cliche. I've always been really annoyed by it. People tend to like it and it's all sappy and sweet, but bleh.

Yes it is cliche but EVERYONE wants it. If that's a shot they want do it!

I agree, and that's why anyone can pick up a camera and go into business. Not much thought is needed, just do what past successful photographers have done. Although, processing the images, or I should say, applying actions, right in front of the customer is a new one to me. But I guess it does get the artist off the creative hook.

I apologize to waste your time with my disastrous post. Like I said, this was a favor done for my sister-in-law, she asked me to do it last minute. To me, it doesn't matter whether or not I do the PP in front of her, I was showing her the actions and all the neat things in PS.

Lastly, I did post shortly before this asking for advice on my first maternity shoot, where I received only ONE reply, and for that I have to thank ghache.

Thats great. You let her decide how the image should look.

Sorry you didn't get tons of responses for tips on how to do your shoot. I never respond to those, because that is part of what makes a photographer. Your point of view, not mine.

On the point of "everyone wants it"... that's a decision each photographer has to make. Are you going to be "another one of those", or do you have your own style? Me, I can't stand doing the cliche stuff... that may mean I'll be hired by fewer people, but I have zero issue with that. You may get hired more for adopting a philosophy such as this. There's nothing wrong with that either. However, an opinion was asked for... and mine was "blech".

To OP: You really need to calm down. You asked for an opinion and you got it. It wasn't an opinion you liked (understandable) and your reaction is to lash out at those giving you the opinion? You didn't waste our time... in fact, your reaction is quite entertaining. However, if you just lash out at anyone that disagrees with you, I might suggest you wasted your own time in posting it to begin with.

You seem to have some expectation of those of us around here... we didn't respond to your advice post... so that is now somehow in part to blame for your results? The members of TPF owe you nothing. They don't owe anyone anything. It's a random group of internet people. Hell, I have 6000+ posts and probably 1/2 of those are posts giving advice and opinions to people such as yourself and I don't bat en eye if no one happens ot bother responding to me... and you have ... 170? I think your nose is a bit out of joint, here.

BTW... why take my critique so harshly? Who the hell am I? Some nameless faceless asshole on some random forum... am I even qualified to give you critique? Let it roll off your back. You still won't learn much from people if you take that approach, but at least you'll slow down the ulcer you're likely developing.
