I'd try the milk jug and then a redo both ways. White bg is not easy and it might be a good thing to see the with and without and the shots look silvery tones to me.

(I found out yesterday during an inspection that my diamond has two chips in it, I'm not too happy right now)

milk jug is just the lazy way to create a light box. You still need to put paper in the jug. If you want to spend some extra time and make a nicer light box, follow this

I dont have a macro lens but I will definitely do some of these when I move to the new house. I will have a lot of moving boxes LOL
