I caught this guy on the drive in to the area I was going to fish. He was "kind" enough to let me get off one shot before taking off

Nice frame!
They all usually bail on me before I get a shot off!
:)

I think you did well for the first attempt or even second.

doesn't it suck when there is nothing you can do about power line stuff, they seem to like to land where you cannot even get some man made distraction out of the photo. the blue looks a tiny bit too saturated in the top right, but other then that nice.

Careful, what starts as a first attempt turns into a passion quickly :) Nice job.. As Matt said, it sucks when they are on telephone poles, but your exposure looks good and detail is good..

Thanks for the feedback, looking at the photo on another computer, I completely agree about the slight oversaturation in the blue. I took a look at my monitor and it seems that one of my kids changed the settings as it doesn't look as saturated. Good thing I only tweeked a copy of the original RAW file so I can go back and make changes. The power line stuff is not my favorite, I even cropped the image quite a bit to get rid of as much as I could. Yes I can see how it could become a passion but looking at the other photos put up here, I do have a ways to go.

Good shot all the same. A good shot of a beautiful bird on a power line is still better then a crappy shot of one in a tree IMO.Watch out though, Kris is right that it's very addictive. Thank goodness there no stalking laws on birds.

Yea maybe a parrot MIGHT take direction

I do need to get out and stalk some more birds as it was fun. I do think I want to look into a different lens for this application as the 55-200 I used seems a bit short and slow at times.
