First senior shoot, Eloria

Well all late in the season to do my first but hey Ill take the work where I can get it. Eloria and her BF met me at Forks High School we talked and Tripped around town to take a few shots. She will be coming to my studio this weekend to finish the shoot. C&C always welcomed

You are to be complimented on your exposures and processing; by that I mean you've managed to render a raven-haired girl's hair against a dark-colored jacket, without loss of detail in the blacks. Looks like overcast daylight (is there any OTHER kind of daylight in Forks during early May? heh heh!) helped by providing soft, even lighting with minimal shadows. THe location there looks nice and rustic, with the weathered wood and all. Of these, the one I think that needs refinement or elimination is #6; having that foot coming toward the camera at such a steep angle...ehhh....I just do not like the out of focus nature of it...I think I'd rather see her on the bench with the camera moved 90-110 degrees over to the right,so that the bench's base is shown going left to right, across the bottom third of the frame. I've found that the sole of a shoe normally is better not shown.

Thanks Derrel I know many Photogs who shoot in Aperture mode and seldom in Manual, I shoot 99% manual mode by habit . I gave several test shots in A mode and the camera could not handle the wide variance in light conditions. The sole of the shoe bugs me also and I did move around and have her change positons on this old abandoned bench here is another shot. I dont like the stacked hands here.

Looks good. I like the location (and her plaid certainly seems to compliment it).
I think you might try to up the temperature on #5 (by a smidgen). Also, #6 looks a little soft, like you just missed focus. But I like your other version, #7. Though I agree, the stacked hands looks off.

I appreciate the thoughtful comments, Im probably my toughest critic but feel that the input from others is invaluable
