Shot taken with a Nikon D3100 with kit lens.

She gave me the D3100 as my early Christmas gift. And my very first shot with the camera was this. Please lmk what you all think.

Indeed; very well lit and excellent monochrome conversion!

It seems nicely exposed, but there's a lot going on. The pattern on the blanket/sheet is especially distracting to me.

Also, I would have either tried to show half her face, or all of it. The in between thing is kind of off.

That was something I was thinking about when I was cropping this photo... Had to work with what I had though lol. Ty!

The first thing I noticed was that her right eye looks dead. Then I noticed her arm and hand look very lage compared to her head/face, which should be the paramount feature in an image such as this. It tells me you used the wider end of your kit lens. Then I saw the dark, heavy creases on her neck.

Not a bad effort, but some things to consider in the furture.

Wow, what great eye you have for those details (esp the hand and arm part).. Thank you so much! I'll make sure I learn from this in future shots!
