This was all shot with one strobe on a rather windy day, so I couldn't really use a umbrella or the alike. Despite, I really do want to get a softbox and try that within a week or two here.

#1 is all kinds of bad - it is out of focus and underexposed for a start, the hair in front of the face is ridiculous, distracting background, bad angle and framing, etc.

#2 is not too bad, no complaints with the lighting but you really should have the kid looking at the camera

#3 is the best of the three. His face could probably use a little more light, but it's pretty good as it is. I'm struggling to work out what is actually going on with the lighting here - the shadow indicates the main light source to be coming from high camera left, but the catchlight in his eyes looks almost like it is on the camera. Is it the sun the the camera left causing the shadow? Where was the strobe placed?

Fokker,

My bad, I should said I was looking for lighting C&C! I knew the compositions, and rest were outta focus and such. Either way, it's a good thing, tho! Ha! Still learning from it. So I changed it to a better one for I thought the lighting on that one was good, but guess not, and the one I changed it with looked to...harsh?

#3: The lighting was to the left, and the sun to the right but mostly blocked by the play ground. It was a really harsh light. Anyways, I just tilted it a little bit, and I was about 3 feet away from it so I couldn't adjust that fast so I left it the way it was and shot.
