Photos OK to edit
i have been offered a mintolta flash iv and the seller said it will be ok for digital photography but when i looked it up on web i could only find it with references to film,,, can anyone tell me if it will do the job for digital.....ta

What is the problem that people cannot make the appropriate capital letters? :lmao:

It does not know if you are using film or digital, it reads the light output from your flash heads and it is a very good meter

If the trigger voltage is within the safe limit of your camera and the flash shoe fits on your camera then you should be good to go. Light is light, it does not matter wether you are sending to a piece of cellulose or an electronic sensor. Be aware that your camera will not control the flash duration of all the existing flash units available.

Edit: I did not clue in that you were referring to a flash meter. GSGARY is absolutely correct. The meter does not differentiate between digital or analogue.

What has that got to do with a flash meter

thanks..Sorry..Thanks, that is what i thought, but not having any experience with using film I was any not sure if there was any special requirements that made it diferent from digital. Please excuse the dreadful gramar but I am sitting in the dark using my sons notebook and cant find half the keys. I am also a bit thick hence the question.

That is why I added the edit. I noticed my mistake as soon as I saw your response.

seriously, this is getting tiresome...all these nagging posts about caps or no caps, punctuation, etc. this post deliberately typed using no caps. just to make a point. ten, maybe 15% of posts are now done via phone. the OP is not that great a typist...so, no need to rag on somebody who asks a one-line post minus caps, is there? or is it necessary to make the same complaint 15,20,25 times per week? it's making the complainers look worse than the posters...

To try and answer the OPs question, the Minolta Flash Meter IV is an excellent meter which will perform all of your lighting metering. The only question is price. I recently bought a Flash V including 10 deg "spot" attachment and Booster Ii for ~$150. For a IV on it's own, I wouldn't want to pay more than $100 at most.
