Flash

So can i use any flash on my Canon EOS Rebel 2000, or do i have to buy a special more expensive Canon flash?
Also I want to be able to flash multiple times in one frame, say 6 times in 3 seconds. what do i have to look for to do that?

Flashes are sold as dedicated or non-dedicated. Dedicated flashes link-up with the camera and work in any shooting mode. Non-dedicated do not link-up and you need to shot in manual mode. All Canon flashes are dedicated, other option very per model.

Most quality generic manufactures make both. So you do not need to get a Canon flash. If you get a generic dedicated make sure it for an EOS and not a FD
