The 3rd shot is my fav, mainly because I love the contrast between the black and the yellow of the butterfly. I love insects and cannot wait until I can snap them with my 55-300 in spring/summer in Scotland.

Thank you. I liked the complimental nature of the purple flower and the yellow in the wings, while the black provided some separation there was an analogous relationship with the lighter green of the leaves.

There is a style that seeks to eliminate everything except the main subject. While there are places this style is useful, I have been trying to expand my vision to include other visual elements in the scene that compliment and give the eye reason to explore further, by using color relationships, textures, shadows, etc, to add interest in the composition as a whole. I'm as much a fan of Bokeh as the next, but I don't want it to define me in every image.
