focusing ring nikkor 70-300 VR

Today I was playing with my Nikkor 70-300 VR (which is 1 month old), and I noticed that I can rotate the focusing ring until it's limit (i feel a little resistance there), and then it keeps going. Obviously passed that point, it doesn't change the focus anymore, but I was wondering if it's normal, or if it's supposed to stop.

Mine does it to, and has for several years. I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine has always done it.

Its designed to do that, its like a clutch.
If it reaches either ends and stops then you need to worry.
