Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Hiya guys,

Im shooting a childs football match at the weekend, it will be in daylight.
So was wondering if you would personally use a tripod or not?

Daylight? No tripod. UNLESS your child is the goalie and doesn't move much.

I was swaing towards the no tripod route to be honest, easier to follow the action, as i have only got a 55-200mm lens to play with lol

Sports shooters tend to use a monopod, not a tripod.

For lenses having 200 mm or less focal length, as long as good camera holding/handeling technique is used neither a tripod nor a monopod is needed.

Get the lens down to the kids level. Kid chest high is good.

Use continuous focus, dynamic area mode, and shutter priority. Plan on having quite a few OOF images until you learn to refine your technique.

Thanks for them tips KmH I will ask to ensure I get permission to use them and post a few for you guys to have a look at

If you take the photos you own them and don't need permission to post them here on TPF, because that would be an editorial use.

You would only need permission to use them for advertising purposes.

You could have a problem shooting children if you are not CRB checked even if your own child is playing

I know, it is not my child its a friends. It is confirmed by both teams parents and managers.

Do not shoot standing up, i shot lots of kids football tournaments through the year, get down on your knees i even lay down behind the goal line

Cheers gary, will give it a go !
Quite looking forward to it, as its a first for me, so yet another learning curve

Definately not a tripod because you need the flexibility to follow the action that a tripod will not allow,I have seen a few pro's using momopods the majpority hand hold.

Re the lens most of my shots are taken on a lens with 200mm at the long end so that should not be a problem
