I know this leaves much to be desired, but I'm happy as a first attempt. Setup was a long pyrex pan full of water, underneath and behind I put some orange and blue tissue paper. SB-900 & SB-700 on either side w/ dome diffuser on. 60mm macro lens. I used bulb mode in a fully dark room with speedlights set to 1/128 power to really freeze the action.

I am no water drop expert, but I'd say you nailed it. I love the contrasting colors.

Also, which 60mm did you use?
It was the nikkor 60mm 2.8 micro (well it's 2.8 -> ? .. variable aperture). I also tried using my 85 1.4D, but the macro pulled this off better.

Nicely captured, great job for your first try :)
Are you planning next time yet? ;)

Actually, yea. And I've been inspired by your recent post with the checkerboard. What I really want is something clearly visible inside the water droplets..

Addictive isn't it!?!?
I'm glad my shots inspired you to try it out, that is way cool, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
