But being a Canon devotee...I didn't really want to bring it up over here :er:

But now that it's here...we might as well bring up the entry from Aug 8th, just below the one in question.

"Personally, I'm disappointed in Nikon's Coolpix efforts since the 8800, and the P6000 actually increases that disappointment. My advice is to look at the Ricoh GX-200 and the Panasonic LX-3 if you want a quality compact camera in the near term. Both have true raw support. Both are excellent, photographer-centric cameras. And with care using raw conversion, both produce fine results at low ISO values. Looks like I need a new Coolpix bumper sticker to add to my collection: Skip the P6000".

BTW on that page he says "equal if not surpass" when it's exactly 14 to 8 in Nikon's favor... almost 2 to 1. Ya think he's a Canon fan? tee-hee..

Nikon seem to have a better autofocus system, at less that is the conclusion I’ve got from what I’m have reading and heard, and that a big issue with sports

Yes, that's the most likely reason.

Most of Canon's bodies, auto focus decently...but their current 'sports' body, the 1D mk III, has had all sorts of problems with it's AF system. I know one wedding shooting who just jumped ship because of it, and another one who bought a Nikon body, just to see if it would impress him enough to switch. He ended up replacing his 1D III with a 1Ds mk III ($8000).

There's two fantasies here, one of which is wrong:

1. To own all of those lenses and shoot things like the Olympics with them!

2. To be shot with all those lenses whilst going for Gold doing Olympic Posing!
