Forks...

I was bored, so I pulled out three forks and started shooting. I actually like the way these three came out..

I like the photos very much! Specifically the texture. Very nice choice of background and processing.

That said, I very much dislike the tines being cropped in the last photo.

Very nice lenswork on the first two Tami, really nice. Lovely "feel" and "mood" on those. The third one has a lot of tension at the clipped off fork tines, so that one does not resonate with me...in fact it sets off the "Errrrrrrrr!" negative-tone buzzer from the old gameshows! On the second two shots, the use of the weathered wood surface with the overall large, diffused highlight bringing out the battered, vintage nature of the wood is really a great choice. This old silverware really goes well with the rough wood surface, and it's a central part of the success of those shots. Good shootin!

#2 is the winner for me ... #1 the tines are OOF, and on #3 as Derrel said ... the tines are cropped out. #2 though ... great focus, the lighting really works, I get the shiny table, and I can see all the texture & detail in the tines.

I agree with everything said so far about #2 and 3. About #1, I think the tines being out of focus is what I like about it. At first, I thought I wanted them in focus, but they are not the interesting part of the forks - it's the detail on the handles that is interesting - so I quickly changed my mind.

I like the out-of-focus tines in the first one a lot and I would make that the image. When I scrolled down to see the rest I felt like it didn't add anything. If all three handles had been in focus I might have felt better about it. Try covering up everything almost up to where the handles end - to me it has a menacing feeling about it.

Love the first. It has such a nice feel to it. The third, as previously stated, leaves me with the feeling of tension based mostly on the crop. For me, the first is the definite winner. Neat idea and well executed!
