I had a similar experience at Wallmart. I asked the guy over the phone if they had Nimh batteries and he said "No sir, we've got Kodak, Duracell, ... (lists all the other battery brands) but no Nimh". I didn't really feel like explaining to someone in the photo department what Nimh batteries so I didn't. Luckily, the rechargeable batteries there were Nimh...

I have a good little shop just south of me. They arent wildly over the top on prices and, offer good service so, I dont mind paying the little extra. I dont know if I would go to a shop that had hobbies too. I kind of like my shops to be specialized. Sound like the guy was more of a P&S store.
