Hi again... I'm in the (very) early stages of getting my new site put together, and would like recommendations/suggestions on a good gallery creation package. I would prefer a freeware version, but if I have to pay, I can live with that too (barely ;) ).

What I am after is a simple app that will take all of my images and produce linked, thumbnail gallerys. I don't want flash or any of the other 'bells & whistles' stuff though. Thanks!

I found the best one to be Simple PHP Gallery. http://relativelyabsolute.com/spg/
= It is freeware, a very basic program, and you can use stylesheets and whatnot to make it look how you want it to...

I have it on my site here: http://www.ohsixohsix.com/gal/

They also have a support forum on that website, and someone else has made an "enhanced" version (which you will probably find links to on that support forum)

Hey tired...what software are you using to build your site...if you are using dreamweaver mx, projectseven has an extension that makes space saving galleries pretty easily. you just have to build the thumbnails (i use the gallery options in photoshop to make a quicky and then snag the images from it to use) and resize your images to be web friendly-it's then all a matter of plugging in the images from your desktop folder... It all pretty straight forward, easy to use...

here's the link... http://www.projectseven.com/extensions/info/show_pic/index.htm

With the exception of whichever gallery app I choose... probably just notepad. I'm not going for any of the fancy java/flash stuff. It's gonna be fairly simple.

Sorry - I copied that link off my actual gallery. Hmm.

I found that to be really easy to use. You just need to upload, chmod a couple of things. Then create folders and drop the photos in. It does the rest. (You can change the colours, etc. yourself, and there are a couple of variables you can change)

I second the vote for JAlbum :)

I eventually migrated to Coppermine which is a lot more complicated initially but also very very flexible and powerful.
