My friend asked me to take some photos of him and his girlfriend so we went out to the nature and took some pics. Would like to hear what you think about it

I'd like to have seen the background a little more blurry, but overall, I like it.

Pose is awkward, lighting is awkward.

Besides that thier legs' interlacing looks strange and awkward you should add some ligth ot them, flash or reflector considering strong back light would help a lot.

I like the idea here.. I just think it could have been done differently. I agree the background more OOF would be ideal.. and the pose seems a little strained.

I don't mind the lighting or the pose. Yes, different lighting and a different pose would have created a different image. What really bothers me is the attire. This is obviously a setup image but the everyday, pedestrian dress just doesn't do justice to the setting and the pose. To me, the attire actually distracts and degrades an otherwise dramatic image.

thanks for the input. Tbh this photo was very spontaneous as we randomly walked that path and suddenly realized the sun was in a perfect position. So i
immediately told them to do a interesting pose. I do agree with you that their "acting" could have been better.

Though i must say im not that much into pure photography, im more into movie/video production. But since i kind of felt very proud of this photo i wanted to share it with the photography community and hear what you people have to say about it

For me, I'd shoot it again but with nicer clothes ... the location, lighting and pose have the potential for a very nice image.

Yes! TBH I didn't even really assess the attire til reading this and wow.. yeah.. I think different attire really would have taken this shot to a whole different level.

As for technical details i used a Sony A7s with a Samyang 35mm T1.5 lens and did some tweaks in Photoshop. So the camera isn't really the best one for photography purposes although it does the job great IMO.

I agree with the above comments. The pose makes me want to see her in a dress with some heels! Not sneakers. I like the idea of your lighting, but I don't think the execution worked well. If you wanted a silhouette, maybe a darker background with JUST a rim light? (I see it in my head, probably not explaining well. Or, a little more light on the couple would have been nice. The background light above his shoulder is also very distracting.

I like where you are going with this though, keep trying!

I agree about the clothing(and acting) totally. However, IMHO i like the lightning very much and it turned out exactly how i wanted and imagined. In photshop i increased the lightning in shadows and could have lighten them up even more but i felt it was enough as one can clearly see the details on them but in the same time feel that the lightsource is in the background.

We are going out there again in a few days and i will tell them to dress differently. What kind of clothing would you suggest?

Ask them to wear the type of clothing that enhances the pose/mood whatever you decide it will be.

You can also help by making the light enhance the mood as well.
