I went out to the Botanical gardens recently and got some shots. I have never tried longer exposures during the day but I think I got some decent results. I also got some good flower shots. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I love the water shots. I can't wait to go out and try them. What settings did you use?

Different for each one but they were all around f/22 ISO 100 and a shutter speed around a second or so.

Did you use an oncamera flash for the last few??

Regards,
Jake

I may have. I was going back and forth with it so I am not sure which ones I used flash and which ones I didn't. Why?

The shadows and such make it obvious that an oncamera flash was used. Thats all.

Jake

I checked the EXIF. Flash was used in 5 and 6 but that is it. Does it bother you?

I have to agree with Bitter, #4 is definitively your best. Very nice contrast!
On a totally different note, you got your 70-300mm yet?

Okay thank you for the critiques. I appreciate them, I think that it is because of this forum, my pictures have been dramatically improving.

Marc- Yes, I did get the 300mm. I used it on number 1 but the rest were with my 50mm. If you want to see some shots I did with the 300, check them out here:

Cool! I like your birds pictures in general. They came out nice! How do you find the 70-300mm? A friend of mine is looking into it.

It is excellent in brighter light. I certainly don't think it would do well without a tripod in lower light situations though. I found myself using a higher ISO than normal even during the day. For the price though, you can't beat it. I got mine for $100.

I like the S curve of the water in #2

Yeah I do too. I just had a friend of mine ask me if she could get it blown up to hang in her living room. should I charge for it or should I just give her the full size file and let her pay whatever expenses to have it printed? What would be the average price for rights to an image of an amateur photographer? She has me thinking of converting my website to a gallery of my work...
