Get a Grip.

The best thing is to just try it out as joealcantar mentioned. I think even with small hands the benefits of being able to hold the camera using a vertical grip button and not have your arm sticking out like a chicken wing will make things easier. I've always used cameras with motor drives and battery packs so the larger body has always felt comfortable, I picked up a camera a few weeks back without the bottom piece and it didn't feel very comfortable or secure.

Also using a grip lets you make use of a wrist strap - something that really helps when holding the camera (not so much adding stability whilst holding and shooting, but more making it a lot easier to let the camera rest in the right hand more when moving around without the same worry of dropping it). For me a batterygrip and wrist strap are essential addons to a DSLR

Good point on the wrist strap, it will make holding the camera easier and take some stress off the hand and wrist.

I think there are performance enhancements for some Nikon models (slightly faster fps maybe?) that comes from the extra battery power of a gripped camera. Canon isn't like that, at least that I know of.

On a film SLR you can buy a grip with a motor that advances the film for you and lets you shoot bursts. I think some of the high end Nikons did like 11 fps - on film - crazy.

I can and do swap my one grip between my cropped and my full frame bodies. It definetly helps with stabilization on the heavier lenses. It definetly makes peoples eyebrows raise when they notice it (and it is noticeble.... hmm, now that I think about it, I wonder if it's the perceived increased size of my camera or the erection that persists while it is attached?). It definetly makes my nuts swell. Around the house, I don't always use it, but out and about, it's always on. The extra FPS is a bouns (thanks Nikon).

I don't get any extra FPS with the D7000. :(

Did you get the additional circumference in your testicles? Or the fact that your missus desires you more than before? If not, you got a cheap copy, send it back ASAP and get the real McCoy..

That I did get.

The only big problem is that she was in the store with me when they rang it up.

I think her exact quote, loud enough for the entire store to hear was "How much?!? For a piece of ****ing plastic? That's a months worth of ****ing groceries! Enjoy your new toy, dumb ass."

So you are saying that your testicles are bronzed and kept in your wife's purse?:lmao:

HA! Now after shooting for only a day with the grip, I took it off for a moment, and the D7000 feels like a toy without it.

hehe careful with putting it on and off though. Myself with a wriststrap (and liking the grip so much) I never had a need to take it off again - however you can get them stuck on the camera if you tighten the grip on too tightly (and yes this has happened to my 400D)
