Getting into portraiture

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and very excited to find a new place for photography discussion.
I've been into photography for almost three years now and I've always been 'scared' of shooting portraits of people. I've practiced with myself from time to time, doing self-portraits, but we all know it's not the same.
During last couple of months I've gotten out of my shell a little with this and a photographer friend of mine (the lovely lady in the first two photos) taught me some studio lighting basics and I got to practice directing with her in a safe and friendly environment. I love (otherwise good) photos with people in them, so I'm trying to get braver with it with some help of friends.
All pieces of advice are very welcome. I don't have the room for a proper DYI-studio at my place, nor do I have money for proper lighting equipment, so I shoot mostly outdoors in natural light. All lighting tips and tricks etc. are highly appreciated.​

Okay, I believe you, but you have a *really* great handle on it already for those being your first.

That being said, you did say you have been doing photography for 3 years so you probably already had some basis of knowledge to pull from.

Yes, during these 3 years I've been always admiring other people's portraits and sucking in anything I could so I guess something stuck with me.
I've been really lucky with having such great models so far too. The first one has been doing some modeling before, but the second one, Sina, hand't done any. So she was a natural!
