Getting into the photography business, need help.

Contrary to what you say, the TPF has been a wonderful place to hang on since I've joined several years ago. The quality of the Thread starters have been sincere and well written matched by quality, detailed, instructive, responses.

There are a few of us, who have been around for a while, that have just recently noticed the crap being posted on the TPF. Usually by members who just recenly joined within the last few months. Its pretty obvious that they have every intention of "taking" and not really contributing to our fine community.

So essence... it starting to feel like a bunch of party crashers joining... you are more than welcome to do much more than just hardly speak.

I'll say it again just like in another thread.

If your time is valuable and limited, the least you can do is expect everyone else's to be just as valuable.

Usayit, I've noticed this trend myself, and I'm still relatively new here. I was hanging around here for a few months before I joined (so probably been lurking since May-ish), but have noticed the nature and caliber of questions has been changing. I've also noticed that some of the people who's opinions and ideas that I respected have not been posting as frequently any more.... which is a shame.

That's true Jason, and a shame.

The reason I was hard on the guy is that if he was telling the truth then he needed a quick dose of reality before they went out and spent their savings on equipment that would hasten them towards bankruptcy. Because he wasn't going to get off his duff and do the work needed to make it a success. You can't just have somebody give you an equipment list and expect to have a successful business just spring forth. A large part of succeeding in business is finding out Everything you need to succeed and planning out a course of action to fill those needs in their proper order.

So, if he went away mad, didn't blow their savings, didn't tick off his wife and didn't loose his shirt because of something I said then I'd call it a good days work!

If he's serious about this then no amount of guff from any of us will deter him and should he ask specific questions about the merits of equipment, best practices, advertising and so on I'd be happy to help as I'm sure most of us would.
