Going traveling

I guess most of you have done some sort of traveling with your cam?Well im planning on going traveling on my own some time in the near future and was wandering if any of you can give me some pointers?planing route,how much cash etc!Im bringing my tent so I wont be staying in the travelers hostles to much but ive been hearing lots about places that I would like to go to i.e.Jamieca<(cant spell) .I heard that you cant go out as it is so rough all over .so I was thinking of starting in India.Do any of youy know any good web sites(not google)that can give me info on traveling.

thorntree is a good travelling forum. There's some hardcore travellers on there as well...just have to get a feel for what 'safe' is, everyone has different thresholds. Less safe = better adventures = better stories (with or without pix).
