Not so sure about this one frequency. There is not much contrast here and the ship almost blends into the water. I also feel like there is too much "sky" because there is no detail to it. If there were clouds that would help but I still think it would be too much and the horizon is dead center in the frame. One other thing that bothers me is the man is too close to the corner, and he is looking the opposite direction the ship is traveling. I think you need some more of the man here and some foreground/less sky to portray what your title implies. Also, is that sensor dust in the sky? And what is in the water just in front of the man? I like your thought behind this image with the man and the ship.

Very cool idea; a couple of thoughts. Given that the ship is coming toward the "parent" perhaps "Hello my son" might work better, or you could get really creative and manipulate the image so that the ship is moving away from him. I agree that the monochrome needs a little more work. I'd like to see the face of the person. In fact, I think that this idea should be taken to the next level; set it up as a posed shoot, have the person show some emotion (sadness/joy depending on whether it's hello/goodbye) and really nail the technical side.

Do not divide frame on halfs, but on thirds. The position of a man in a corner of a photo is also not welcome

Frequency, I wasn't sure what to expect from your title, but I was sure glad it wasn't what I thought it could be. I'm not comfortable with your composition as there is just too much mono tone sky that detracts, not adds. Also the ship has too much empty space behind it, and then there is that something which looks like dust or dirt in the to the upper right of the person.

I took the liberty to do a quick edit including darkening the mid tones just a touch.
