That's why I'm glad I got this through a good camera store or I'd be screwed.
Hello new friend.
Just put it's clothes on. Tomorrow I'll focus adjust it and them I'm back. It's a 6 year newer lens and in better shape than my old one.
Wow! Unheard of.
I can't praise Henry's enough for sticking to their guns with Canon and for the no questions asked replacement.
Needles to say I put the same 3 year warranty on this lens.
This sounds on par for the course. Sounds similar to the issues I had with Canon CPS and trying to get gear that actually worked..
Congrats on the new baby!
Interesting. My one experience with Canon Canada was an adventure.
Back in 2006 I sent my 28-70 L lens to Canon repair facility in Mississauga to replace the rubber focusing ring that was loose. It was past the warranty so I was going to have to pay for the service. I was going to Europe in 6 weeks so I specifically asked them how long this would take: they said 3 weeks. After the 3 week period I started to get worried and started sending phone message status requests - a few emails.
They told me it was imminent - they were awaiting shipping of the rubber ring from Japan. After about the 5th week I started writing posts in 3 different camera fora such as this one describing the poor customer experience. i started sending links to the post in my complaint e-mails to Canon Canada. Eventually 3 days before I left for Europe they told me they would not be able to get a replacement rubber ring in time and they gave me a spanking new 24-70 L lens instead (as the 28-70 L was discontinued)!!
Predictably my experience with them changed from poor to EXCELLENT.
Great that you received a new lens out of it.
I almost received an 800mm F5.6 as my replacement but luckily for Henry's a 500mm F4 became available the day that mine was written off. lol
An 800 5.6? You'd need a dolly just to get that around!
