To me, in regards to shooting Great Blues as desperation shots, any BIF is a challenge in regard to light, action and detail. I sort of get humored by the notion that an eagle is more majestic or harder to shoot than an Egret or Heron. For me, shooting a Vermilion Flycatcher, most Warblers or American Kestrels way, way harder because they are fast, small and tend to make rapid and radical turns. A good shot of a BiF, is a good shot regardless of size, talons, or speed. I have over 1,200 shots of Herons and Egrets and every one is different from the other. Anyway, the nice raptors other than Ospreys are few and far between here so we do the best with what we have.
