Grey Card?

This is probably a very bad question but why could you not print out a piece of gray paper, cut it out, and a glue it to a notecard to use as a grey card?

A gray card is calibrated.

Any 18% gray would work, but there are virtual "gray" cards around you all the time. Grass in sunlight, some parts of a blue sky, etc., will work just fine with spot metering or a small metering area.
