Thanks for the feed back and help every one. Here is the latest as my connection appears to be back working again. Let me know what you think.

I will also have a look at the version to DNG as I had not heard of it until now. I use photoshop every day for painting textures, backgrounds and other type of editing not photography work. I also need to stop using my lap top for editing photos as I think the monitor is going on it. Sitting at the big box feels like work though and I don't want photography to start feeling that way.

Funny how people can differ so much in what they like.

Thanks for the feed back.

Sure it will. The files just need to be converted tfrom .NEF to .DNG.

Visit Adobe.com.

This appears to work very well and I like the batch conversion.

Are there any draw backs to converting from the native format? Am I loosing anything in that conversion that would be better done in Capture NX2 and then ported to PS via DNG or Tiff?

Ok, I prefer for the most part working in PS as that is what I'm used to but going from the DNG to a JPG I get a significant loss of contrast in the image. When I was converting in Capture NX2 I didn't see this problem.

Colour space problems? If so how do I correct that as I'm not getting any results with what I'm playing with.

Just noticed as well that the pixel aspect ratio is changing as well I think. The crop looks right but is taller as a JPG.

Bump, any takers to these questions?

I don't think so but i don't use PS. Anyone ?

How about the second question, why am I seeing differences in the DNG and jpg images with saturation and pixel aspect ratios?

I have no idea.

Colorspace maybe re: the loss of color saturation (?) Apologies for the vague answers..I either shoot jpeg or my raw (NEF) get converted to TIFF early on and my jpegs look like my TIFFs.

Hopefully someone familiar with DNG and PS can chime in.
